Infrastructure:
- - Road network of 620.97km.
- - 238km in good condition.
- - 518km: rural feeder roads.
- - 53.45km are fairly maintained.
Due to
the swampy nature, half the roads are in bad condition. The District Works and
Technical Committee carries out routine maintenance, periodic spot maintenance
and rehabilitation. The World Bank under its programme, the Ten-Year Roads Implementation Programme
is helping improve the roads to Class II standards.
The
government’s infrastructural development focuses on rehabilitation of rural
roads, energy for rural transformation, communication and building agricultural
infrastructure such as irrigation facilities.
Water coverage
- - 98 % are deep boreholes.
- - Population served per borehole – 1,700
- - Average walking distance to a safe water
source is 2 km.
Water & Sanitation
The current coverage in Bugiri District is 20.6 % of which 98
% are predominantly deep boreholes.
The following achievements have been registered in the period
FY 2001/ 2002 contributing 3.5 % increase in coverage.
The average population served per borehole – 1,700 persons
Average walking distance to a safe water source is 2 Km.

Communication
Served
by a 24- hour power supply, Bugiri is blessed with regular communication
services through vibrant telecommunication service providers like MTN, Celtel
and Uganda Telecom.
Technical services
The total length of gazetted district roads in Bugiri District
is currently 518km, of which 188.5km are in Good condition,
136km in Fair condition and about 193.5km in Bad condition.

district.
