Community Development Programmes
A number of programmes and projects have been initiated to uplift the socio economic status of the people of Bugiri. Community development is seen as a key reducing poverty and improving the quality of life.
Some of the projects include:
- The UNICEF/Government of Uganda (GoU) Programme dealing in health and nutrition, water, hygiene and sanitation and HIV/AIDS.
- The Programme for Enhancing Adolescent Life – PEARL. This focuses on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS targeting 10 – 24 year olds.
- Functional Adult Literacy: integrates literacy skills with other development programmes empowering community members to participate in community development.
Bugiri district local government is committed to optimal utilization of the available resources for quality service delivery to improve the quality of life of the population.
